As a piece of the workforce puzzle, Adult Basic Education is helping to solve the state’s workforce shortage! Work readiness training is intended to increase employability but does not result in a recognized credential. Workforce Readiness training helps adult learners attain the educational and workforce skills they did not achieve by traditional means.

Work readiness training helps adult learners develop foundational skills in reading and writing and includes instruction in a combination of skills that are needed to function effectively in the work environment. These skills include:

  • SMART Goal Setting

  • Critical Thinking

  • Problem Solving

  • Decision Making

  • Basic Computer

  • Effective Communication (speaking & writing)

  • Math Skills

  • Resume Building and Cover Letter Writing

  • Interviewing Skills

  • Career Exploration

Both employers and employees benefit when the workforce has strong basic and workforce skills!
